| 4Winmobile Viigo CAB now available |
|
Jan 06, 2009 - 6:44 PM - by windows
|
As you may (or not) be aware we on 4Winmobile.com have partnered with Viigo to allow RSS data from this site (as well as other sources) to be readily available on 4Winmobile via the Viigo application.
One complaint we have had is that the Viigo application was not available as a CAB file for over the air (OTA) installation. We've been talking to Viigo and I'm happy to say a CAB file is now available ... [Read More]

Editorial: Exchange 2007 and WM6.x task sync broken
One of the selling points of the Windows Mobile devices is that they are designed to work with the Enterprise marketplace. That is that the devices can be synced over the air (OTA) with Exchange Server 2007 to gain benefits such as push email.
All well and good, Push Email, Contacts and Calendar sync all works wonderfully.
One area that does fail unfortunately is that of task... [Read More]

Editorial: My perfect device and other ramblings
For those of you that visit the forum from time to time you will notice the speed at which most of us change our devices and the amount of debate on what a device does well and more so what parts of it are lacking be it the sluggishness of the fancy new shell, the intermittent connectivity of the internal gps, looks like metal feels like cheap plastic, awkward keyboard….. well you get the... | Nice Mobile Browser Review |
|
Jan 06, 2009 - 6:38 AM - by CleanLogic
|
A colleague and friend of mine, Jim Causey, wrote a post on Windows Mobile browsers today that I thought does a good job of explaining (at least from my perspective) one of the great things I like about Windows Mobile: variety.
Jim's post can be read here: Windows Mobile Team Blog : Survey of Web Browsers for Windows Mobile
Love to hear your thoughts on the post, and on your preferred browsers.
Cheers,
John
[oh yes, the if you're going to blog legal disclaimer.... I work for Microsoft, but my views are my own and not necessarily shared by other employees or the company.]

| Can Microsoft make its future mobile? |
|
Jan 02, 2009 - 1:51 PM - by The Mailman
|
The BBC News Technology website has a feature article "Can Microsoft make its future mobile?" which makes for quite good reading.
It basically says the future is "smart" and that MS should be able to make it theirs but that they have to sort out the WinMo OS now that technology has caught up with its demands.
It also brings together all the alternatives, Linux/Symbian/Apple, with a very well put together article.

| TPHONES LG Incite Samsung OOQO's Next UMPC Will Include OLED Touchscreen |
|
Jan 01, 2009 - 7:14 PM - by windows
|
OQO is set to unveil an updated version of it Ultra Mobile PC. Like its predecessors, this will be a tiny PC running the regular version of Windows, but the upcoming version will add some new features, including an OLED touchscreen.
OQO's current UMPC, the model 2, looks like a slightly larger than normal handheld, but runs either Windows XP or Vista.
The current version uses a track stick pointing device to control a cursor, but the next edition -- the OQO model 2+ -- will add a touchscreen. Rather than this being a standard LED, this will be an organic LED, which should use less power.
But this won't be the only change. The upcoming model will be based on a 1.86 GHz Intel Atom processor, rather than a slightly slower one from VIA as the current model does.
Also, OQO says the model 2+ will sport "worldwide 3G capability," which almost certainly means it will have HSDPA, and possible HSUPA, too. EV-DO Rev A is an option for its predecessor.
This pre-announcement information comes directly from OQO, who says the model 2+ will be unveiled at CES in mid-January.
There's no word yet on what... [Read More]

| FriendMobilizer updated |
|
Dec 30, 2008 - 8:40 AM - by windows
|
Along with a new design, FriendMobilizer now has photo upload support, internationalization, memory card installation, notifications about upcoming birthdays, and much more.
The most visible change is the main screen. Since most of us only have a handful of close friends whose activity we follow, we've introduced a new concept into this release called "best friends." We allow you to pick up to 25 best friends whose pictures will be displayed on the main screen, offering you one-click access to their profile information. Their statuses are automatically retrieved every 30 minutes, and their pictures are stored on your phone longer. Note that the rest of your friends' information is still accessible from the application.
At the same time, we've managed to keep FriendMobilizer light-weight, resource-friendly, and very fast. In this release, we've also added a garbage collection feature and improved photo caching to not only ensure speed, but further minimize storage usage as well.
FriendMobilizer runs on Windows Mobile 6 Smartphones and Pocket PC's.
Full details can be found at our website: ... [Read More]
